Embodiment of Perception (2017)

The exhibition Embodiment of Perception is about bodily interactions with the environment through the perceptual system. It’s how the body interprets the environmental atmospheres and what’s happening under the immersion of the self into these environmental realities.
It’s about a collaboration between the participant and the object/environment that creates an open line of communication where deeper exploration is possible.

The Embodiment of Perception is a portal hub that gives the participants access to different dimensions, presenting the opportunity to explore these worlds as different realities.
The sci-fi sitcom Rick and Morty was the inspiration for the layout of the space in the exhibition. A series that follows the misadventures of the mad scientist Rick and his easily influenced grandson Morty, who split their time between domestic family life and inter-dimensional adventures.
One episode in particular is the inspiration for the use of the space. When Rick is being chased by the government of Ricks, Ricks' plan for escape is to create several portals at the same place, going into one of them, leaving several possibilities of the unknown behind them for the pursuers.

It’s the fascination of the instantaneous transformation stepping through the portal, crossing the boundary, into the unfamiliar.
